The country that has perhaps the most intimate relationship with tea is Great Britain.  Tea drinking in Britain is so ingrained that it would be difficult to imagine a situation where tea drinking, or having a cup of tea, whether it be socially, at work or simply a cup of tea for one did not happen.

It really all started for Britain as far back as the mid 1600s when the then King, Charles II married a Portugese princess, Catherine of Baganza and made her his queen.  Her favorite drink was tea and she lost no time in introducing it to the court.

Having established the manner in which tea was introduced to Britain it is worth stating that today, as has always been the case the quality of the tea drinking experience is to a large degree influenced by the quality of the tea leaves used.  Tea bags, which include a blend of different tea leaves are, unfortunately unlikely ever to be good enough, and so if you do wish to get the most out of your tea drinking make sure that you get the best quality tea leaves.  You will find plenty of selection at specialist tea shops and you should not accept inferior quality.
